High-alumina refractories are made from bauxite, a naturally occurring material containing aluminum hydroxide (Al[OH]3) and kaolinitic clays. These raw materials are roasted to produce a mixture of synthetic alumina and mullite (an aluminosilicate mineral with the chemical formula 3Al2O3 · 2SiO2).
High alumina brick is a type of refractory brick that is made from high-grade bauxite, sillimanite,alumina. High Alumina Bricks are a multi-industrial refractory product that is produced with select bauxite chamotte as the main raw material, formed with an advanced process with strict quality control. These High Alumina bricks – 85% Al₂O₃ can be applied to electric arc furnaces roofs, steel ladles, cement rotary kiln and its cooler, lime kiln, Aluminum melting furnaces, kiln for chemical industry, reheating furnaces and soaking pits, glass tank furnace and regenerator, etc.
High alumina brick touts a low iron content, which gives it a high bulk density of the brick thereby increasing its lifespan making it an excellent material for kiln lining brick. High alumina bricks are great in industrial applications where fewer lining changes are preferred. High alumina brick is extremely durable, resistant to friction, and has very a high degree of thermal shock resistance as your furnace heats and cools. Due to its resistance to these phenomena, high alumina brick is less likely to crack, crumble, or otherwise fail for a considerably longer time than conventional fire brick.
